Uptype is published by SAS VRM, a simplified joint-stock company located at 66 avenue des Champs-Élysées, 75008 Paris, France. In this policy, "Uptype", "we", "our", or "us" refer to SAS VRM.

2. Data We Collect

When you visit the website

We may collect limited technical data such as pages visited, date and time of visit, device type, browser, language, cookie consent data, and audience measurement information.

When you join the waitlist

We collect the information necessary to process your registration:

• your email address
• the language or locale used
• the form source, e.g. hero, pricing, call-to-action, or navigation
• UTM campaign parameters, when present
• the country inferred from technical headers provided by the host
• the date and time of registration

When you use Uptype features

To provide dictation, rewriting, and transcription functions, you may transmit voice, audio, or text content to our services. This content is sent to our backend and may be forwarded to an AI provider, including xAI, to produce the requested transcription or result.

Your voice recordings, transcriptions, and text content are never used to train a language model, neither by Uptype nor by our AI providers.

We encourage you not to dictate or transmit sensitive data that is not necessary for your use of Uptype.

3. Why We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following purposes:

• to provide the website, application, user accounts, and requested features
• to manage your waitlist registration and contact you about Uptype
• to prevent abuse and maintain service reliability
• to produce transcriptions, rewrites, and processing you request
• to measure website traffic and understand page usage
• to manage your cookie and consent preferences
• to comply with legal obligations and defend our rights if necessary

4. Legal Basis

We process your data on the following legal bases under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures: to provide access to the service, manage your account, and execute requested features.
• Consent: to place or read certain cookies, enable certain audience measurement features, or send certain communications where required by law.
• Legitimate interest: to improve the product, secure the service, prevent abuse, and understand general site usage, subject to your rights.
• Legal obligation: to retain elements necessary to comply with our legal, accounting, or administrative obligations.

5. Cookies and Audience Measurement

We use an internal consent banner to record your preferences. The choice stored in your browser allows us to know whether you have accepted or refused non-essential services.

Uptype may use Plausible for audience measurement, as well as Google Tag Manager and Google Consent Mode to manage certain tags and consent signals. Services subject to consent are only activated based on your choices where required by regulation.

You can modify your preferences at any time via the "Cookie Preferences" link in the website footer.

6. Recipients and Processors

Your data is only accessible to people and processors who need it for the purposes described above. We may use the following providers:

• Vercel, for hosting and web infrastructure
• Turso/LibSQL, for storing certain application data
• Plausible, for audience measurement
• Google, for Google Tag Manager and Google Consent Mode
• xAI, for certain transcription or AI processing features
• our internal technical tools necessary for operations, security, and maintenance

We do not sell your personal data.

7. Hosting and Transfers Outside the European Union

Uptype is published by SAS VRM in Paris, France. Your data is primarily hosted in Europe.

Some of our providers may process data outside the European Union. When this is the case, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission, additional security measures, or any other mechanism recognized by applicable regulation.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a legal obligation or legitimate need requires longer retention.

• Waitlist data: until you request deletion or until it is no longer useful for the launch and follow-up of Uptype.
• Account data: for the lifetime of the account, then for a limited period necessary for security, legal obligations, or dispute management.
• Cookie consent data: for the duration configured by our consent tool or until you modify your preferences.
• Technical data and logs: for a limited period necessary for security, diagnostics, and proper service operation.
• Audio or text content transmitted for transcription: for the duration necessary to produce the requested result. You control history retention in Uptype settings: last hours, last entries, indefinitely, or store nothing. When store nothing is enabled, no transcription history is recorded.

9. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure. These measures include access controls, use of recognized providers, and limiting processed data to what is necessary.

However, no online service can guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account or data has been compromised, please contact us promptly.

10. Your Rights

Under the GDPR and applicable data protection laws, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• right of access
• right of rectification
• right of erasure
• right to object
• right to restriction of processing
• right to data portability, where applicable
• right to withdraw your consent at any time for processing based on consent

Uptype is not intended for children. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a minor without appropriate authorization where required, we will take reasonable steps to delete that data.
